Masks

   With the advent of digital cameras masks have been changed forever. In times past cameras required us to look through a viewfinder, now however we look at a screen. In the past we often had a corrective lens system attached to the viewfinder which allowed us to see a clear image for focusing and composition. With today's cameras we have a screen to look at and this poses two new problems:

1) Reflection inside the mask can make it almost impossible to see the image on the screen.

2) If we are in the habbit of using reading glasses we will not be able to focus our eyes on the screen.

   To overcome the first problem manufacturers are producing black silicone skirts for most of their masks. The second problem has been more difficult to overcome and has required the manufacturers to produce positive scripted lenses. When these are used not only can you see the camera screen but you suddenly notice all the small creatures that you have not seen since you started wearing reading glasses.
